Understanding your target market

Before you start any form of Marketing, you need to know exactly who it is you want to appeal to.
In other words you need to research your market and decide what “market” or “niche” you are going to focus your Internet Marketing on.
In order to understand your market you have to determine what it is they absolutely need.
When you understand what they need you have to offer the solution.

• Find an answer to the problem

What is Niche Marketing

To briefly explain about niche marketing it is basically focusing on one particular sector or market.
For example the ever popular niche market – weight loss
Weight loss is the general niche market and has a very wide range of topics that can be broken down even further into sub-niches and even micro niches.

A sub-niche of weight loss would be for example - weight loss diets. This is still pretty much a general niche but is specifically directed at weight loss with dieting methods. A much narower field of topics and therefore a sub-niche.

Micro niches are very popular amongst many Internet Marketers simply because it becomes easier to find profitable niches and generate a website that makes regular profits. Multiply this by several websites in several niches and it becomes clear to see why people can earn substantial amounts of money from niche marketing.

In order to find your micro niche you will need to do a little research. This means that you will have to do some keyword research and then check your keywords for competition and also research possible methods to earn a commission for that niche.
You do not want to spend time developing a website if it is not going to be profitable.
A quick way to see if there is money to be made is to type your keyword into Google search and see if there are sponsored links on the right hand side. The more the merrier.

Niche Marketing Software

There are also several niche marketing software packages available.

While these software packages can really help you discover many profitable niches in a short space of time, they can also be overwhelming to newcomers to Internet Marketing.

Researching niche markets will also help you gain a feel for your niche.
